PGDClinPsy, MA, BA (Hons), Registered Clinical Psychologist Denise Kingi-‘Ulu'ave is of Tongan/Samoan/Palangi descent, and was born and raised in Rotorua, New Zealand. She is married to Tanira and they have three children. Her family are from Hala Tu'i in Kolofo'ou, which is a village in Nuku'alofa, the capital of Tonga. She is currently employed as a senior clinical psychologist with the Adult Community Mental Health Service, Palmerston North, and has also worked as a psychologist for Department of Corrections, New Zealand and The Child and Adolescent Service in Canberra, Australia. Denise is currently a member of Hawakiinui - the central region Pacific mental health and addictions expert advisory group, MidCentral Pasifika Health Development Group, the Depression Management Group, the National Standing Committee on Bicultural Issues in Psychology, and the Mental Health and Addictions Local Advisory Group (LAG) to MidCentral Health. She also provides clinical input into major DHB projects and has published in the New Zealand Medical Journal and the Professional Practice of Psychology in Aotearoa New Zealand edited book. |
